Arsenal have been one of the busiest teams in England this summer, and it’s fair to say they’ve pulled off some impressive transfer business so far.
Fabio Vieira is one of the brightest young players in Europe, Oleksandr Zinchenko is a proven winner who can be a star at this level, but the jewel in the Gunners’ crown this summer is undoubtedly Gabriel Jesus.
Indeed, Arsenal were desperate for a new number nine heading into this summer transfer window, and they got their man in the shape of the Brazilian.
After a remarkable pre-season campaign, Jesus looks like he could be an absolute star this season, and according to Kevin Campbell on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, the striker is the signing of the summer.

“I’m going to go with Jesus, listen we went in with balaclavas and we got him. It was cheap money, and he’s showed you that he has everything a striker needs, his movement, his goalscoring, his workrate, his tenacity. He has everything we need and I think he is going to be the star guy,” Campbell said.
Time to shine
Campbell thinks that Arsenal pulled off something of a heist with Jesus, and while we can’t agree with that point, it’s fair to say that Jesus could have a fantastic season.
After smashing in the goals in pre-season, the Brazilian looks like he could be a genuine Golden Boot contender this time around, but this isn’t the bargain Campbell is making it out to be.
In reality, Arsenal have paid £45m for a striker who scored eight league goals last season as he headed into the final year of his contract. When you lay it out like that, it doesn’t sound great.
However, that simplified explanation is doing Jesus’ talent a massive disservice, and while he wasn’t cheap, it’s fair to say that this wasn’t the worst deal Arsenal have ever done.
Whether or not Jesus ends up being the signing of the season remains to be seen.
