Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger explained what he feels is the reason behind Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott’s improvement in form, as quoted by the Independent.
The Gunners secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over Reading at the Emirates last night, with Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring both goals.
Wenger spoke to reporters following his side’s victory, and discussed Walcott and the Ox, offering a reason for their upturn in form, as quoted by the Independent:

“Yes, they are lifting each other. Alex is following Walcott on the same way. They are fighting each other too but they can play on both flanks as well.”
It must make for pleasant viewing for Gunners fans to see genuine competition for places, and not just in the right-wing spot.
Wenger has had to endure fierce criticism over recent years for his failure to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours.
This year appears to be different, however, after a slew of new faces arrived at the Emirates over the duration of the summer.

Walcott has been an integral part of Arsenal’s fine run following their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on the opening day of the season, scoring eight goals and chipping in with two assists in 12 appearances.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, has managed five goals and an assist in 12 outings for the Gunners.
