John Terry’s tweet last night sparked interest from Aston Villa fans, amid their search for a new manager.
Villa’s search continues
The Daily Record suggest that Terry has been spoken about as Villa seek a replacement for Dean Smith, although he isn’t currently their top choice.
However, Terry seemed very keen to show that he is working on tactics in his own spare time at the moment.
Terry worked at Villa under Smith before stepping down as assistant manager earlier this year.
His work at Villa Park was always credited, but the 40-year-old is keen to start life as a manager now.
And many fans felt that his tweet last night might just suggest he is in contention to get the Aston Villa job.
Terry to Villa?
If Villa were to appoint Terry it would be a surprise, despite how highly regarded he is by the players at the club.
It would be a big risk for the Midlands side to appoint a completely unproven manager in their current position.
That being said, Terry has to start somewhere – and he now is very familiar with Villa as a club.
It seems more likely that the claret and blues will decide to turn to a more proven boss, though.
Aston Villa have already been linked with the likes of Roberto Martinez, Steven Gerrard and Ralph Hasenhuttl in the initial days since Smith’s departure.
Villa have lost their last five games in a row, so whoever Villa’s new manager is, is set to walk into a dressing room which is low on confidence.
