Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after David Ornstein revealed that Richard Garlick had been appointed at the Emirates.
In what capacity? Well, Ornstein states that Garlick will leave his post as Director of Football for the Premier League to do the same job for Arsenal.
He succeeds Huss Fahmy, and will leave his role with the Premier League later this year to begin working with the Gunners.
Ornstein adds in his report for The Athletic that Garlick will work closely with Edu.
Formerly West Brom’s Director of Football, Garlick is a qualified solicitor specialising in sports law.
Ornstein mentions that his background in law is part of what Arsenal were looking for when hunting for a new Director of Football.

Arsenal released an official statement revealing the news, in which they outline what Garlick’s responsibilities will be.
It reads: “His responsibilities will include football operations in the first team and academy, all player contract management and relationships with football’s governing bodies.”
Hopefully, this can be the start of some solidity at boardroom level for the north Londoners.

Things have chopped and changed over the last few years among the Arsenal hierarchy, with the likes of Sven Mislintat coming in before leaving not long afterwards.
In our view, Garlick is a fine appointment, and one who has plenty of experience in his role at the top level.
Let’s see how the Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted to Ornstein’s update…
