Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has stated that he is only focused on winning silverware this season amid growing reports about a potential exit in the January transfer window.

Speaking to the Mirror, the Portuguese international revealed that his aim this season is to win every trophy possible with City as Pep Guardiola’s side aim to achieve a historic quadruple, with the Manchester giants favourites to win all four competitions they are competing in this season.

City currently sit second in the Premier League with the reigning English champions already through the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, with the League Cup and FA Cup also likely to be won by Guardiola’s side if they can keep their best players fit this season.

Yet for Silva, a transfer could be on the cards for the playmaker in 2023, with rumours of a move to FC Barcelona still circulating as the La Liga giants failed to land the midfielder in the summer, with the Athletic reporting that City value the 28-year-old at £84m.

Many expect this season to be Silva’s last with City, and when asked about a potential transfer, the midfielder didn’t rule out the prospect with Barcelona likely to launch another attempt to sign the former AS Monaco star in the January window.

Silva said when asked about his future: “I have both eyes on winning the Premier League and trying to win the Champions League, Carabao and FA Cup. At the end of the season we’ll see what happens, but right now I’m going to give my best for the club and will give my best as long as I play here.”

The Champions League remains amiss in Silva’s trophy cabinet during his time with City, yet the midfielder could win a move in 2023 should the playmaker guide Guardiola’s side to European success, which seems likely this season given Erling Haaland’s unstoppable form.

Indeed, Silva looks more than set to leave City next year, and whilst Barcelona would be a dream move, the playmaker can end his time in Manchester on the highest of highs if he can with the Premier League champions their first Champions League title this season.
