Speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Joe Gomez has been discussing Mohamed Salah and his place in the pantheon of Premier League greats.
Salah is undoubtedly already a Premier League legend. He holds the record for the highest number of goals in a single season, and he’s on track to win his third Golden Boot award.
However, for some reason, he’s rarely talked about amongst the very greatest players in the history of the division, and Gomez believes that may only change once Salah hangs up his boots.
What’s Gomez said?
The defender was full of praise for his teammate.
“For me when I was young the sweet spot was Thierry Henry at that time, the charisma he played with and his aura. But in the present the things that Mo is doing are we will look back on it and say it was unbelievable and sometimes I don’t think things are appreciated until they’re gone. I’m going to have to tie those two,” Gomez said.
The centre-back then spoke about what it’s like to play against Salah in training.
“Some days it is long, if you’re not up for it you are going to get twisted inside out by Mo, Sadio, Bobby and all of them. Imagine my early rehab, those first sessions back trying to get back up to speed against Mo, it was difficult, but that’s why we’re here and why we all aspire to play for Liverpool.”

The best ever
When all is said and done, Salah may well be looked at as the greatest Premier League player of all time.
His goals to game record is utterly ridiculous, and he could come close to scoring 200 goals in this league if he stays at Anfield and continues playing at this level.
Salah isn’t quite appreciated at that level as of yet, but that’s probably because he’s still an active player.
As Gomez says, Salah is a player everyone will look back on with an incredible level of admiration.
