Even Serge Aurier was shocked by Tottenham Hotspur’s first half against Arsenal this evening.
The North London bragging rights went to the Gunners today after Mikel Arteta’s side thumped Spurs at the Emirates Stadium.
They only won by a two-goal margin in the end, but that doesn’t tell the full story.
That’s because Arsenal killed the game and buried it by 35 minutes following a rip-roaring opening to the clash.
Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka all scored before the break to give the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead.
Aurier terminated his contract at Tottenham by mutal consent this past summer.
And the Ivory Coast international, who has been pictured wearing an Arsenal shirt in the past, posted the word ‘WOW’ on Instagram alongside a shocked face emoji during the half-time break.
Here’s how some Lilywhites fans reacted to their former defender’s message:
Despite being 28 and in the prime of his professional career, Aurier remains a free agent after leaving North London.
In fact, Arsenal were linked for a brief moment [Sky Sports], but both North London sides have better right-backs now.
Arteta and Edu brought 22-year-old Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu to the Emirates Stadium for £20 million, while Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici signed Emerson Royal from Barcelona late on in the summer window.
