Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after finding out that Mohamed Salah had been included in Egypt’s preliminary squad for the Olympics.
The Liverpool No.11 joins Mohamed El-Shennawy as the two senior players in Egypt’s squad for the tournament, in news that will presumably annoy the Reds.
The Olympics is usually contested between Under-23 sides, with the exception of three senior players as Goal state.
Given Salah’s status as one of Europe’s best forwards, it’s no surprise that Shawky Gharib wants to include him in the event.
However, doing so will disrupt his pre-season plans with Liverpool.

If Salah does partake in the Olympic games, he will miss pre-season, and is also likely to miss the first few games of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
The football aspect of the Olympics is expected to run from July 23rd to August 8th, whereas the Premier League seasons kicks off on August 7th.
This news is a huge inconvenience to Liverpool – Salah is arguably Jurgen Klopp’s most important player.

The former Chelsea man is the outright top scorer in the Premier League this season with 17 goals.
The Reds will surely want him involved in pre-season and the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
Let’s see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to this news…
