Leicester City and former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he has no intention of joining Tottenham Hotspur during the summer.
Tottenham need a new long-term head coach after firing Jose Mourinho last week.
Ryan Mason has been put in charge of Spurs’ senior side but the 29-year-old – who has two matches under his belt – is far too inexperienced for this project.
According to 90 Min, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has offered the former Celtic boss a huge financial salary of £15 million per year to swap Leicester for the Lilywhites.
But the Irish manager said on Tuesday that he would be staying at The King Power Stadium, via Sky Sports.
Rodgers joined Leicester in the winter of 2019 after almost three very successful seasons with Celtic, winning seven of their nine trophies during the treble treble.
He was particularly popular among fans of the Parkhead club because he revealed himself that he supported the Hoops.
Here’s how some Celtic fans reacted to Rodgers’s claim that he wasn’t joining Tottenham.
You could forgive Celtic fans for their tongue-in-cheek comments.
After all, the former Liverpool coach broke their hearts when he left for the Foxes two years ago.
It wasn’t only that Rodgers left – it was because they were so close to winning 10 Premiership titles in a row.
And considering Rangers’ Steven Gerrard ended their dominance after nine successive titles this season, the animosity will still linger for many Celtic fans.
