Thomas Tuchel to Celtic?

That’s the question being asked by several Celtic fans today following the news that PSG have sacked their manager.

A record of two consecutive Ligue 1 title wins, with a domestic treble secured last season, was not enough to keep the 47-year-old German in his post.

Tuchel, who previously managed Borussia Dortmund, has presided over a run of 11 wins in 17 games that has left his side sitting third in the table behind Lyon and Lille.

With the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria at their disposal few would bet against PSG clawing back the one-point deficit and eventually securing another title, but the club have moved to sack their manager on Christmas Eve.

Tuchel signed a contract extension in May 2019, but according to The Mirror he recently admitted to feeling more like “a sports politician or sports minister than a coach”.

In recent months Celtic fans have called for manager Neil Lennon to be dismissed, with protests outside the ground following a series of poor performances and disappointing results.

News of Tuchel’s availability has got some fans of the Scottish champions dreaming.

According to the Manchester Evening News, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is in line to replace Tuchel at Le Parc des Princes.

Lennon, meanwhile, will be in charge on Saturday when Celtic face Hamilton Accies at New Douglas Park in the Scottish Premiership.
