Some Bournemouth fans – and a few non-Cherries supporters – think John Terry is south coast bound after a Friday development at Aston Villa.
Terry has spent the last 20 months as Villa’s assistant head coach, working under Dean Smith.
But Smith will have another no.2 to lean on next season after Craig Shakespeare’s arrival at Villa Park was announced earlier this afternoon.
Terry has been linked with the managerial vacancies at Bournemouth and Bristol City of late.
According to The Sun, the former Chelsea and England captain will remain an Aston Villa employee.

Bournemouth are without a manager after Eddie Howe’s departure by mutual consent last week, which followed Aston Villa’s survival at the Cherries’ expense.
But it is Howe’s assistant, Jason Tindall, and not Smith’s, who is the current favourite for the role with several bookmakers.
Shakespeare most recently worked as Nigel Pearson’s right-hand man at Watford, and held the same position at Leicester City and Everton (albeit under Sam Allardyce, not Pearson).
The Birmingham-born Aston Villa fan was also Leicester’s manager for a period in 2017.
