Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck says it is a pleasure to play alongside Alexis Sanchez.
Having scored a last minute equaliser at home to Hull City last week, questions were raised over Arsenal’s performance this season.
The Gunners had picked up only 11 points from the first eight games of the season, and with Arsene Wenger’s men also trailing at Anderlecht in the Champions League in midweek, the word ‘crisis’ was used to describe the club again.
Yet after goals from Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski in Belgium, Arsenal found renewed confidence ahead of their trip to Wearside to take on Sunderland on Saturday – and it showed.
Two goals from Alexis Sanchez handed the Gunners a comfortable 2-0 win at the Stadium of Light, with the Chilean capitalising on two dreadful defensive errors from the Black Cats.
Sanchez, a £32m capture from Barcelona this summer, has been the star of the show for Arsenal this season, and has formed promising chemistry with fellow summer signing Danny Welbeck.
Welbeck has been the beneficiary of great driving runs and delicate assists from Sanchez, and he told the official Arsenal website that it’s a pleasure to play alongside the 25-year-old.
“It’s a pleasure to play with Alexis,” said Welbeck. “He’s persistent, he keeps going and they are [the attributes of] somebody I like to play alongside.”
“It’s the same with all the other players in the team. I’m really getting to know the players much better now and hopefully now we can go on a nice run of winning games,” he added.
Sanchez’s brace against Sunderland makes it six goals in just 11 appearances for him, whilst Welbeck has also notched five goals in nine outings, illustrating how important the duo have been this season.
