According to Juventus Director Maurizio Arrivabene, Paulo Dybala will not be staying in Turin amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, this is big news for Arsenal and Tottenham.
It was 90min who revealed that the Gunners and Spurs had been in contact to ask about Dybala’s availability.
Now, a battle for the Argentina international’s services is set to break out, as Arrivabene confirms he will not be signing a new contract.
Dybala’s current deal – which is said to be worth £222,000-a-week – expires in June.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Arrivabene said: “We won’t extend Paulo Dybala’s contract. We’re not gonna do any other proposal. The decision has been made.”
The Italian journalist adds that Dybala’s agent will now begin negotiations with clubs interested in his client, which presumably includes Arsenal and Tottenham.
So far this season, the 28-year-old has scored 13 goals, while also providing six assists in 29 appearances.
Arsenal and Tottenham should be all over this
It’s not every day that a genuinely world class player like Dybala becomes available for free, so Mikel Arteta and Antonio Conte should be all over this.
It wouldn’t be a signing for the sake of it either, as the north Londoners both need a new centre-forward added to their squads.
Arteta only has Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah after the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the duo are also out of contract in June.
In Tottenham’s case, Conte doesn’t have any strikers to choose from apart from Harry Kane, which is an issue given the England international’s occasional ankle injuries.
