Roberto Martinez told ESPN ‘we will see’ when talking about his future after Euro 2020 amid rumours Tottenham are keen on him.

Every name under the sun has been touted to be Tottenham’s next boss, including Belgium’s current boss.

The 47-year-old helped the Belgian’s progress through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 yesterday when they knocked out the holders, Portugal.

But this is what Martinez had to say about his future and said that he will ‘obviously’ return to club football.

“As coaches, we lose three games and our future is in doubt,” said Martinez. “You are doing okay and winning games then there will always be talk.

“At the moment, we are right in the middle of a tournament which we have been preparing for three years, so you can imagine the only focus I have now is to be good as we can.

“With the future, we will see. I never get the future right so any prediction of my future then I will get it very wrong.

On returning to club football: “Obviously, I don’t know when that will happen. I am still a young man in coaching. 47-years-old.”

Given how Daniel Levy has gone about replacing Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, by the time the Euros are over, he may well still be searching.

And whilst Martinez’s name hasn’t probably been seriously considered as others, it may well head towards that direction if he wins the Euros.

Management is all about timing, and whilst Martinez had an indifferent time in England, his name will sky-rocket if he guides Belgium to their first major tournament.

And given the attacking talent he has at his disposal, it’s a real possibility, but the tricky Italian’s await them in the next round.
