Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will have to wait until the end of the season if they are to sign Yann Sommer.
Tottenham and Manchester United are among the clubs linked with the 34-year-old Switzerland international midfielder, but his side, Borussia Monchengladbach, have made it clear that they will not sell him in the January transfer window.
As you can see from journalist Fabrizio Romano’s tweet, Monchengladbach director Roland Virkus has made it clear that the Bundesliga club will not sell the 34-year-old in the middle of the season.
Monchengladbach have also informed German rivals and defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich that he is not for sale.
This is quite interesting because Sommer will become a free agent in the summer of 2023.
Tottenham and Manchester United will now have to wait for the rest of the season if they are to sign the Swiss goalkeeper.
Journalist Dean Jones has reported in GiveMeSport that Sommer is on Tottenham’s radar.
ESPN have reported that United want to sign the Switzerland international goalkeeper on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
Now, the Red Devils have just signed goalkeeper Jack Butland in the January transfer window, but that is only on loan from Crystal Palace.
So, a move for Sommer next summer could very much happen.
