Alan McInally was left raging on Soccer Special on Sky Sports at West Brom’s claims that they should have had a penalty in stoppage-time during their defeat to West Ham on Tuesday night.

With minutes left on the clock, West Brom put the ball into the penalty area only for West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski to punch it away and take Semi Ajayi with him.

McInally couldn’t believe that there were calls for a penalty as he claimed that ‘we will get football stopped’ if such penalties are awarded.

West Ham went onto secure all three points and move into the European places, but McInally wasn’t happy.

“Seriously, we will get football stopped, we really will,” said McInally. “Do you know they wanted a penalty for?

“The ball gets crossed from deep. The goalkeeper comes to get it, Ajayi is up with the header, the goalkeeper punches it and as he punches the ball, his arm hit Ajayi in the head.

“He screams all over the place. And Graham Scott is almost obligated to have a look at VAR. Do me a favour! Ajayi, nothing wrong with him, by the way, obviously. Trust me, it’s never a penalty.”

The Hammers have come a long way since their promotion under Allardyce in 2012, but he is now looking to help those at the Hawthorns.

Whilst West Ham have had their troubles over the years, Allardyce did well to establish them once again and it’s that type of results that are wanted at West Brom.

The transfer market is crucial for the Baggies to take that step forward and Allardyce is an expert in picking out talent for the fight, as he proved with the signing of Robert Snodgrass.
