Andrea Radrizzani has promised that Leeds United will ‘fix’ Garry Monk’s contract.

Leeds United’s new co-owner Andrea Radrizzani has told the Daily Mail that the club will fix Garry Monk’s contract at Elland Road.

The Whites moved up into third place in the Championship table with a 1-0 win on Friday evening, and results have largely gone their way in recent days.

Reading lost at home to QPR to let Leeds in to take third place, Huddersfield lost at Sheffield Wednesday to cement Leeds in third place by the end of the weekend, and Brighton were beaten by Preston North End to leave Leeds just six points off the automatic promotion spots.

The performances of players like Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley, Kemar Roofe and Chris Wood are major factors in Leeds’ success, but the plaudits must go to manager Garry Monk.

The 37-year-old was out of work when Leeds came calling over the summer, as he had been sacked by Swansea City in December 2015, but he’s now proving that Swansea were wrong to let him go.

Monk’s Leeds side have now dropped just two points in the last six Championship games, and after years of instability in the Elland Road dugout, Monk appears to have finally given Leeds the long-term manager they’ve been looking for under Massimo Cellino’s ownership.

However, Monk only signed a one-year rolling contract with Leeds back in June, and fans have been left concerned that he could end up leaving the club at the end of the season.

Now, Leeds’ new co-owner Andrea Radrizzani has told the Daily Mail that Monk’s contract isn’t a big issue right now, but having spoken to Cellino and Monk about the situation, he says that Leeds will fix Monk’s contract in the near future.

“It’s not a big issue, to be honest,” said Radrizzani. “We are in communication – myself, Massimo and Garry. I see that all the three parties are convinced about what is happening here and have the intention to stay together. We will fix this, I am very confident we will fix it,” he added.
