Besiktas President Ahmet Nur Cebi spoke to beIN Sports Haber about his plans for the January transfer window.

After back-to-back third-place finishes, the Black Eagles are aiming to have a real go at the title in Turkey this season. However, they have started the campaign terribly. Besiktas have lost three of their first seven games and are currently 11th in the table.

Cebi wants his side to get back to winning ways and he is open to dip into the January window for help. He claims that he wants a striker, and his countryman from Everton is top of his wish list.

He said: “There is a saying, ‘I want heaven, but my sins do not leave.’ I also want Beşiktaş to get better players for success. We want to rejuvenate the team. I want a striker transfer. Cenk Tosun comes to the fore as a name. Cenk Tosun is at a club now, but I’d like to try (to sign him) if there is a chance to play a ball in Besiktas at half time (January).”

Tosun has been poor for Everton

Tosun joined Everton from Besiktas for £27 million (Sky Sports) in January 2018. A lot was expected of the Turk, but his time at Goodison Park hasn’t gone as well as everyone had hoped.

The 29-year-old has played 53 times for Everton in all competitions and has scored just 10 goals. He was shipped out on loan to Crystal Palace at the start of this year, but a serious knee injury ruined his temporary move.

Tosun is back at Everton now and has been given some game time. The Turk came on as a substitute in the last two Premier League games, but the Toffees would likely accept a bid for him in January.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit and firing, while Richarlison can also play up top. Tosun will not be ahead of the duo in the pecking order, which makes a return to his former club a very tempting option.

However, Everton will not get anywhere near what they paid for him in 2018. Besiktas aren’t in the best financial condition either, which makes a loan move in January the likeliest option for Tosun if he wants to return to his former club.
