According to London News Online, Roy Hodgson has rejected offers for Scott Banks and wants to keep the youngster at Crystal Palace for now.

The ex-England boss is quoted as saying: ‘We have rejected, I know, several clubs who have asked to take him on loan because we want to keep him with us here longer and give him a chance to try and break into our first team squad before we send him away to get more footballing experience.’

Banks was a January signing from Dundee United, penning a three-year deal with Crystal Palace and going straight into their Premier League 2 side this season.

The 19-year-old has done his chances of game-time under Hodgson no harm at all with his impressive start to the campaign.

The Scottish attacker has two goals in two games so far, while also grabbing an assist.

Hodgson has proven that he is willing to hand game-time to young prospects already.

It was the 73-year-old who handed Aaron Wan-Bissaka his Premier League debut, and he has also overseen the rise of left-back Tyrick Mitchell who has started all of the Eagles’ league games so far this term.

Elsewhere, the Crystal Palace boss revealed that he’d like to continue working with wantaway forward Wilfried Zaha, and doesn’t want any late bids to arrive for the attacker as they won’t be entertained.

Sky Sports quote the ex-Liverpool boss as saying: ‘Well, I have been told and I think Wilf has had it made clear to him that we are not interested in late bids.

‘So close to the end of the transfer window, I would certainly hope it will not happen now and I want to continue working with him.’

The Ivory Coast international has recently been captain of the Palace side, and has began the campaign in excellent form with three goals in three games.
