Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been playing well in recent weeks despite the injury problems, and one particular player has stood out.

While Caoimhin Kelleher could have probably done better for Manchester United winger Adam Diallo’s winner in the FA Cup quarter-final tie on Sunday, the Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper has done well for Liverpool overall.

Alisson is a world-class goalkeeper, but Liverpool are not missing the injured Brazil international. Kelleher has been that good. He was arguably the Reds’ best player in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

Former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard thinks that the 25-year-old will be in demand at the end of the season.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will be in demand

Howard said NBC Sports, as transcribed by RTK: “I think this will give him a really good taste of football and think, ‘I can play at this level, I can be a number one somewhere’.

“And by the way, it might not be his decision, I think there’ll be a lot of teams knocking on Liverpool’s door saying ‘we want this kid.’ He’s very, very good.”

My View: Caoimhin Kelleher has to consider his Liverpool future

In my opinion, Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has to look at his options in the summer transfer window. I am not saying that the 25-year-old should leave Anfield, but I think that he has to be open-minded.

We know that Celtic are interested in Kelleher. Joe Hart is retiring at the end of the season, so that Liverpool goalkeeper could go straight into the Hoops’ starting lineup.

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The Brazil international will go straight into the Liverpool starting lineup when he is fit and available.

Kelleher will go back to being a bench warmer. For a 25-year-old who has been described as world class by one of his teammates, that simply is not good enough. He deserves more than just playing a handful of matches every season.
