Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham are interested in a move for Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey this summer.
Sky claim that Tottenham want to sign Lamptey this summer, and that would certainly be an interesting addition.
Lamptey only played 11 times in the Premier League for Brighton last season, but those showings have seemingly been enough to convince Spurs that he’s a player they should be looking at.
Lamptey has been out of action since December due to ongoing injury problems, and if Spurs get their man, he may have already played his last game for Brighton.
It’s no secret that Tottenham may be in the market for a right-back this summer after poor campaigns from both Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty, and Lamptey could be just what the doctor ordered.
The Brighton defender has been mightily impressive this term, with his displays for Brighton also reportedly catching Arsenal’s eye.
The speedster has previously been described as ‘dangerous’ by Ashley Cole, and it’s fair to say the Chelsea legend is right about that.
Standing at just 5 ft 5, the 20-year-old’s combination of pace and a low centre of gravity make him an absolute nightmare for any opposition player, and while he’s primarily a defender, it’s his attacking intent that usually catches the eye.
This would be a very exciting signing for Tottenham, and it’s one that could solve a big problem in their squad.
