Sky Sports News have been reporting that Liverpool defender Nat Phillips is a wanted man, claiming that Bayer Leverkusen now want to sign him.

Phillips has been linked with moves to a number of Premier League clubs this summer, but now it seems as though a return to German could be on the cards for the centre-back.

What’s been said?

Sky Sports delivered the news on their television channel.

“Now, we understand here at Sky Sports News that Bayer Leverkusen are keen on taking Nat Phillips back to the Bundesliga, no bid has been received as of yet for the defender. Brighton see him as a replacement for Ben White who is due to have a medical at Arsenal of course, Burnley, Newcastle and West Ham are also interested in Phillips’ signature,” Sky’s reporter said.

Race for his signature

With the likes of Leverkusen, West Ham and Brighton all interested, Liverpool could be set to receive a decent fee for the centre-back.

West Ham have been known to spend big in the past, Leverkusen are one of the richest clubs in Germany, while Brighton may well be about to receive £50m for Ben White.

It may seem a little unfair for Liverpool to be selling Phillips after a fantastic season, but they may be making a wise move in selling him now while his stock is at its highest.

Phillips finished third in Liverpool’s Player of the Year voting last season, but it seems as though his future may lie away from Anfield.
