Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Ian McGarry has shared that Liverpool have contacted Declan Rice’s agent amid reported interest from the Reds.

The Merseyside outfit have been linked with a move for Rice in recent weeks, and it seems as though their interest is concrete.

In fact, McGarry claims that Liverpool have already contacted Rice’s agent, asking him to keep them informed on any bids for the West Ham midfielder.

“He is no longer on the transfer list of recruitment possibilities for the Stamford Bridge club, but he has certainly roused the interest of Liverpool and Manchester United,” McGarry said.

“Both of whom have expressed interest to Rice’s agent as we understand and they have asked to be kept informed of any offers made for the England international.”

This is a very interesting update.

The Reds’ interest in Rice seems to be strong. After all, they’ve already contacted his agent, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though they’ve got a clear path to signing him this summer.

Indeed, Manchester United are seemingly also in the race for Rice, and that could complicate things for Liverpool.

The Old Trafford outfit certainly have the financial power to compete with Liverpool in the race for Rice, but whether or not they can convince him to choose Manchster over Merseyside remains to be seen.

Klopp is clearly a big fan of Rice, calling him ‘fantastic’ a couple of years ago.

This is certainly a situation worth keeping an eye on in the coming months.
