Both Newcastle United and West Ham United still have hopes they can sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, as reported by Sky Sports.

Whilst both sets of fans are hoping Man United can reach a deal with their team, Mark Noble is hoping he rocks up at West Ham before the transfer window slams shut, as he told Vibe with FIVE.

On deadline day, it seems as though Newcastle have been the ones in the driving seat to possibly sign the ball-carrying midfielder.

But the Magpies and those in the Old Trafford boardroom seemingly can’t agree on a deal for the player.

Noble shared his thoughts on Lingard and how it’s a ‘tough situation’ for the player because Man United have already let Anthony Martial goal and they will let Donny van de Beek leave too in the coming hours.

“He surprised me by what a great lad he was,” said Noble. “And a top, top footballer. You saw in the first training session how technically good he was.

“I didn’t think he was going to be that good, to be honest with the goals he scored and what he created for the team.

“But it’s a tough situation when you have six months left at a club like Manchester United. He has been there all his life. They have left Martial and Van de Beek go.

“Whether he will come to us, we still have a few hours left, so, hopefully, we can get a deal done for Jesse.”

After the impact Lingard had at the London Stadium last season, it’s understandable why there is such a clamour for his signature.

David Moyes’s side were pushing for the Europa League when he joined and his goals helped them get over the line.

Many in east London will feel that he could do the same again, but this time for Champions League football, but at the end of the day, that’s not going to happen because Man United are also battling them for a top-four spot.

But, for someone like Newcastle, Lingard donning their colours could be the difference in them playing Championship football next season or Premier League football.

That’s how much of a game-changer the England international is.
