Jose Mourinho has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official Youtube channel that he felt his side could hurt Leeds United with movement at the weekend.

Tottenham beat Leeds 3-0 on Saturday, as they dealt very effectively with Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s threat.

Spurs set-up very efficiently to beat Leeds, with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son causing all kinds of problems.

The pair linked up for Tottenham’s second goal in the contest, as Son latched on to a cross from Kane.

And Mourinho said that the movement of Kane going out wide, with Son moving into the middle, was one which he told his players could hurt Leeds during training, in the build up to the contest.

“We spoke about it. We spoke about man to man marking like Leeds does,” Mourinho said.

“We had the opportunity to practice and mobility can disturb a lot. When Harry appears with that movement on the right and Sonny appears in the scoring position on the front post, it pleases me, especially as it is something we worked on before.”

Leeds’ style has actually caused much debate in recent weeks, with Bielsa refusing to change it, depending on the Whites’ opponents.

Some observers have suggested that Leeds need to take a more defensive approach to games against the top teams in the Premier League, but Bielsa is unlikely to subscribe to that ethos.

Leeds have competed well upon their return to the top flight and despite the defeat to Spurs they still sit in 12th place in the Premier League table.
