Harry Kane is on the brink of a record at Tottenham Hotspur.

On Saturday, the 29-year-old scored the only goal of the game as Spurs edged out Portsmouth 1-0 in an FA Cup encounter.

In doing so, Kane moved to number 265 in terms of goals for Tottenham.

And the England international is only one behind the legendary Jimmy Greaves, the Lilywhites’ record goalscorer.

Barring injury, Kane is going to usurp Greaves as Tottenham’s most prolific ever player.

But according to Oliver Skipp, his teammate at Hotspur Way, nobody at the club is surprised due to how lethal he is behind the scenes in training.

Skipp told Spurs’ Player: “It’s incredible. Credit to him and how he performs in every game, we’re talking about a world-class striker. We see it in training so it doesn’t surprise us as much as other people but it’s incredible that he’s on 265 and I’m sure he’ll get a few more before the season ends.”

Kane has 17 goals and three assists across all competitions this season, from 26 appearances.

Still only 29, the Tottenham marksman could even wind up improving between now and, say, 2025.

He’s smack bang in the middle of his prime and that’s bad news for Spurs supporters.

If he doesn’t win anything under Antonio Conte this season then rest assured he’ll have invitations to leave the club this summer and – whisper it – but he may consider it his last chance to win silverware.
