Ben Davies continues to be a puzzling signing by Liverpool.
Well, it was always a bit of a strange move by the Reds, who signed the 25-year-old defender from Championship side Preston for £2 million in the January transfer window.
But it looks a lot more odd by virtue of the fact that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp clearly has no intention of playing him.
Davies is yet to play a single minute for the club in any competitive game and at the moment, can’t even make the bench.
The English centre-back was left out of the squad for last night’s win at Arsenal and now hasn’t been named in a matchday squad for a Premier League game since February.
He swapped regular football in the Championship to not even be a squad player in the top flight, even if it is Liverpool.
And here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to last night’s snub on Twitter:
Davies is earning £60,000 per week, which isn’t much in comparison to other players at the club, but it’s a fortune for somebody who may never make his debut.
Still though, it isn’t his fault.
Any 25-year-old Championship player who Liverpool want to sign, Klopp’s going to get his man because, well, it’s Liverpool and almost impossible to turn down that sort of move.
