Liverpool fans have questioned what actually happened to Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets, two years after his last tweet.
Back in 2019 Busquets tweeted ‘we are ready’ the day before Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final with Barca.
Of course, no Reds fans need any reminder of what happened on that occasion, as they pulled off one of the greatest European comebacks of all time.
Liverpool won 4-0 in front of a cauldron of noise at Anfield.
And rather than read the responses to his tweet, Busquets seems to have left the platform since that day, exactly two years ago.
Liverpool fans are keen not to let Busquets forget about his message though and on the anniversary of their famous win they were messaging him again.
Liverpool went on to win the Champions League after beating Barca in 2019.
Jurgen Klopp’s side dispatched with Tottenham Hotspur in the final in relatively comfortable fashion to lift their sixth Champions League title.
Busquets and Barca, meanwhile, have continued to struggle in the European competition – and have exited early on in the knockout stages in the last two years.
