Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to Douglas Luiz’s message about returning to club action.
The 23-year-old posted on Twitter ‘I’m back’ after he was given extra time off after competing at the Copa America and the Olympics this summer.
Whilst Emiliano Martinez’s Argentina beat Luiz’s Brazil in the Copa America final, it was a different story for the midfielder in Japan.
Luiz played every game as Brazil beat Spain to win Gold at the recently-concluded Olympics.
But Villa fans are glad that their £15 million man (BBC Sport) is back and they are hoping he can get back into their midfield as soon as possible.
Dean Smith’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat at newly-promoted Watford on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.
Villa’s midfield was a big talking point, especially Marvelous Nakamba, who didn’t produce the best of performances.
It’s perhaps too soon for Luiz to start against Newcastle at the weekend, but he might be on the bench, which would be a boost for all.
