Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer plans and who they need to sign this summer.
The Gunners have a huge transfer window ahead of them, and after a summer of signing players for the future in 2021, Wright wants to see the London club bring in some more proven talents this time around.
Indeed, the Gunners legend says that he wants to see Arsenal sign a player in the mould of Liverpool’s Luis Diaz – a player that can come in and make an instant impact at the Emirates.

Wright spoke about Arsenal’s transfer business.
“Arsenal I think we need key signings, I don’t think we can spend money and hope, I don’t think we can do that now. We need to find a goer, I’m not saying Luis Diaz, but I’m talking about that Luis Diaz kind of energy. He has to come in and hit the ground running, the recruitment has been good, but they need some experience and players who are just ready to go,” Wright said.
Hard to find
Wright says that he wants Arsenal to sign a player like Diaz, but that’s easier said than done.
There are so many talented players littered throughout Europe, but sadly, you can never guarantee how they will adapt to Premier League football.
Diaz was by no means a superstar before joining Liverpool, but now, he’s one of the Premier League’s best wingers, but other players with a higher profile have flopped over here.
Look at someone like Angel Di Maria. The Argentine looked like he was ready to become a Premier League great after joining Manchester United, but he didn’t cut the mustard and was gone just one year after his arrival.
Diaz is a ‘fantastic’ talent, and while every team would want a player like that, they’re not easy to find.
