Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Rob Holding against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
Holding was in action for Arsenal in their Premier League game against Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London.
The 24-year-old central defender had a brilliant game at the back, as he held his own, and looked calm and composed on the ball, and it was his run that saw Gabriel score on his debut.
According to WhoScored, the former Bolton Wanderers man had a pass accuracy of 90.3%, won one header, took 106 touches, attempted two dribbles, and made two tackles and three interceptions and three clearances.
According to 90min, Leeds United and Newcastle United want to sign the Englishman on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window, but Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told BT Sports that the defender will not leave.
Some Arsenal fans were impressed with the display produced by Holding and has praised him on Twitter.
Below are some of the best comments:
Meanwhile, former Manchester United central defender Rio Ferdinand was impressed with the display produced by Arsenal central defender Gabriel, and Gunners legend Ian Wright has praised midfielder Mohamed Elneny.
Ferdinand said on BT Sports (2:39pm, September 12, 2020), as transcribed by The Sport Review: “Sometimes as an ex-player we sit here and we make judgements on players quickly. As a player, if a new player comes into the changing room, you’ll see their first few touches and you might say they’re not for you.
“Players can grow on you and they can start to build. Today was a fine example of that. We were saying negative things based upon what we saw early on. We thought maybe it was same old Arsenal, buying a centre-half who doesn’t fit into the team.
“He was sloppy with his passing. You have to give people time. It’s a big ask, it’s a new country. He had a very, very good debut.
Wright said about Elneny on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:59pm, September 12, 2020): “Fantastic as well. I was very impressed with him.”
