Bruno Lage is convinced Adama Traore will stay at Wolves and miss out on a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as reported by The Express.
With reports suggesting a big-money switch to north London was edging ever closer, many Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters may have wondered whether his eight-minute cameo against Nottingham Forest last night was the last they’d see of Traore in Old Gold.
According to The Guardian, Tottenham have entered talks with the Black Country club about a potential £40 million deal for the lightning-powered Spain international.
It’s no secret Wolves have failed to tie Traore down to a new deal.
And, with just two years left on his contract, this feels like the last chance to get maximum value from a man who has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, even if he did miss a couple of gilt-edged chances during successive 1-0 Premier League defeats.
Tottenham boss Nuno looks to lure Adama Traore from Wolves
But when asked about Traore’s future at Molineux, Lage didn’t sound like a man preparing for the imminent departure of a key player.
“Yeah, I think (Traore will stay),” said the former Benfica boss.
“We want to create a strong team and to be competitive. That’s why we need to be competitive, to create this dynamic.

“We need players training every day and then putting out the best XI every match. You know the competition in the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup – we have a lot of games.
“We want to play like this and, if everyone isn’t fit, we need another player to play in his place.”
Wolves, meanwhile, have been linked with a £7 million swoop for Cardiff City’s 20-goal talisman Kieffer Moore.
And the prospect of Traore whipping inch-perfect crosses on to the head of 6ft 5in Moore should have supporters drooling.
