Some FC Cincinnati supporters are thanking Andrew Gutman for his efforts while on loan from Celtic – and hope he returns for a third spell.

Gutman has spent the past 15 months with the Major League Soccer side, who say they are in negotiations and discussions to re-sign him from Celtic.

That is despite both of his spells ending in disappointment, as FC Cincy, now managed by the legendary former Netherlands defender Jaap Stam, twice finished bottom of the Eastern Conference.

After their final-day defeat against Inter Miami, for whom the ex-Celtic winger Lewis Morgan currently plays, Gutman tweeted the following message:

And it appeared to go down well, with some fans keen for his return in the new year.

Gutman still has 18 months left on his contract at Celtic, for whom he has yet to play.

But it remains to be seen if he’ll get his chance under Neil Lennon, whose predecessor Brendan Rodgers signed the American.

In that time Lennon has brought three left-backs to Celtic, although Diego Laxalt is only on loan with the Bhoys.

Greg Taylor is Celtic’s other senior option, with Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo farmed out to Istanbul Basaksehir for the duration of Laxalt’s spell.
