Crystal Palace ace Max Meyer turned 23 on Tuesday – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have demanded he is promoted to the starting XI by manager Roy Hodgson.

The attacking midfielder completed a move to Selhurst Park on a free transfer in the summer, as his contract with German club FC Schalke had expired.

He arrived in the Premier League with a decent reputation and the four-time capped Germany international is a creative playmaker.

But he has been a fringe man so far this campaign and is yet to start a single game in the Premier League, featuring three times off the bench in brief cameos.

Meyer did get a full game in the EFL Cup win over Swansea in August, but is still waiting to burst onto the scene at his new club.

His career has stalled massively in the last year, but he was once someone who was a shining light in the Bundesliga and will be keen to rediscover his best form.
