Kevin Campbell has stated that Dušan Vlahović and Alexander Isak, individually have the qualities that Arsenal duo, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, both possess, as he told the Highbury Squad.
The Arsenal legend added that they ‘need’ players of that ilk, as he was responding to the club needing ‘two strikers’ in the summer because he feels Aubameyang, Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will leave in the next window.
As things stand, Mikel Arteta won’t have many strikers to choose from for next season.
Aubameyang’s days in north London are seemingly done after he was stripped of the captain’s armband – he hasn’t played since.
Whilst both Lacazette and Nketiah’s contracts run out at the end of the campaign and the signs, so far, suggest that they won’t sign on the dotted line.
Campbell spoke highly about two thriving players in Europe in Vlahović and Isak and how they are what the club needs.
“What Lacazette has proven,” said Campbell. “Even though he doesn’t score the goals that we like. How essential he is because of what he does for the team.
“Bringing in a player, who is maybe more of a goal threat, he has to have more than just a goal threat. He has to be able to link the play.
“Isak can do that and Vlahović can do that as well. Both of them can come short, both of them can hold the ball up, knock it off and get into the box.
“We were having, Aubameyang play on the shoulder and Lacazette playing in the hole. We need a player that can do both. Vlahović, Isak, DCL (Calvert-Lewin) to a point, can do the same.”

One thing is for sure, come the summer, Arsenal will be fishing the transfer market for a striker.
Unless they decide to do some business this month, they are relying on Lacazette and Nketiah for the goals until then.
Of course, there is the thriving star Gabriel Martinelli who is shining bright, whilst the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are also producing big numbers.
But Arteta can’t rely upon the young guns because they are still improving and progressing their own game.
