Eric Dier has told Erik Lamela on his Instagram story ‘we miss you so much’ after he won the Puskas Award for Tottenham.

The Spurs defender congratulated his former teammate, whose rabona goal came during Tottenham’s north London derby clash against Arsenal last season.

This is the message Dier sent to Lamela after FIFA confirmed Lamela as the 2021 winner at their award ceremony on Monday.

“Congrats bro,” said Dier. “We miss you so much.”

It’s some achievement picking up the award once, but Tottenham have now won the prize back-to-back.

Heung-Min Son was the one collecting the award last year for his quite outrageous solo effort against Burnley.

It would be interesting to see who Tottenham fans think scored the better goal between Lamela and Son?

Both are completely different in style, the one from Lamela, who left Spurs in the summer when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge, is pretty difficult to execute with so little time to think, at such speed and in such a tight area.

Then it’s actually pulling off the rabona itself, which looks far easier to produce than the Sevilla man makes it look.

But Son’s bursting run from deep, from in his own half, where he seemingly went past the entire Burnley team is a goal Spurs fans will remember for a very long time.

Sean Dyche’s side are known for their defensive qualities, so this wasn’t a case of skipping past any ordinary team.

Then it’s the close control and bravery to keep going when running with the ball at speed, before having the composure to actually do the most important part and put the ball into the back of the net.

All in all, both are deserving of their prizes and you wonder which Spurs player is next to claim the award?
