Speaking to SportoWefakty, Leeds United defender Mateusz Klich has reflected on the penalty he scored against West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski earlier in the season.

In December 2020, Leeds suffered a 2-1 defeat to West Ham at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side had actually taken the lead, thanks to a penalty from Poland international midfielder Klich.

The 30-year-old had to take his spot kick twice after VAR ruled that for the first one his Poland international teammate Fabianski had stepped off his goal-line.

Klich has reflected on that incident now, as he joins Fabianski in the Poland squad for their upcoming international matches, and has said that after the game they both laughed about the incident.

The Leeds star told SportoWefakty: “He saved the penalty I was taking because he jumped out of the goal-line too quickly. On the second try I managed to defeat Lukasz. We laughed after the game that he did well and me.”

Important player for West Ham United

Fabianski is a very good goalkeeper and is an important player for West Ham, who are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

The 35-year-old Poland international remains as good as ever, and one can see why the former Arsenal and Swansea City man is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Hammers.
