Ian Wright has stated that Leeds need to be ‘more ruthless’ in front of goal next season, as he told Premier League Productions during their live coverage of Monday’s defeat at the London Stadium.

The Highbury legend thinks Leeds need to also stay in the game ‘when it’s not going well’, as their defeat at West Ham is perhaps a reference to that.

Leeds would have felt that they were unfortunate not to open the scoring through Tyler Roberts, but they conceded two goals in next to no time and then couldn’t get that goal to really test West Ham’s nerves.

Nonetheless, Wright shared his honest thoughts on Leeds next season and where he thinks they will finish as this campaign comes to an end.

“I think all they need to do is sometimes when it’s not going well is staying in the game,” said Wright. “You have to be more ruthless up top.

“We know that Patrick Bamford has scored a few goals this season and he has done well.

“But in games like that (West Ham), Leeds have to learn to not lose them and next season it’ll be interesting to see who he signs and how they play.

“Once the fans get back in, it will give them all a boost. I think they finish above anywhere the top 10 or 12 (this season) is fantastic for them because they have been fantastic this season.”

It seems as though Leeds need that drop of experience and added depth which would just help elevate this free-flowing and all-action side.

The one positive is that those in the Leeds boardroom have backed and seemingly will, once again, back Bielsa in the transfer market in the summer.

And if those players who come in can have the same impact as a Raphinha then it will make them utterly dangerous next term.
