Dharmesh Sheth says Ivan Fresneda is ‘very open’ to securing a transfer from La Liga side Real Valladolid to Newcastle United.
The Sky transfer reporter added that Fresneda is ‘flattered’ by Newcastle United’s interest in the highly-rated 18-year-old right-back.
Kieran Trippier is Eddie Howe’s starting right-sided fullback after he was the first name through the St James’ Park doors last January following their Saudi-led takeover.

The 32-year-old has been outstanding in Newcastle colours during that period and he is a key reason why the club are currently sitting in the Champions League places.
But those in the St James’ Park boardroom are being pro-active and looking at possible long-term replacements for the England international.
That’s where Fresneda comes into the picture, with the Magpies recently scouting the player and being left impressed by his talents, according to Dharmesh Sheth, who told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
“Newcastle United are in talks with Real Valladolid over the signing of their right-back Ivan Fresneda,” said Sheth.
“We know that Newcastle United have scouted Fresneda on a number of occasions, including last Friday’s match against Real Madrid, even though they lost to Real Madrid, his stats were very good and he did impress a lot of people who were watching that game.
“It’s thought that Fresneda is flattered by the interest from Newcastle United and he would be very open to the move to St James’ Park.
“Newcastle see their recruitment, in this position at right-back, as follows: they want someone to come in who is young, so he fits that profile because he is only 18. But to learn initially from Kieran Trippier and then eventually become a key player in the Newcastle United XI. Fresneda’s contract is up in 2025.”

NEWCASTLE IN THE TRANSFER WINDOW
From the improvement of players like Fabian Schar and Miguel Almiron to the outstanding purchases of Nick Pope Bruno Guimaraes.
Many things have gone right for Newcastle United since the Saudi-led takeover and it seems as though with this possible addition of Fresneda, they aren’t getting ahead of themselves.
With Newcastle sitting in the Champions League places, they could easily decide to go overboard this month and take risks in trying to secure a top-four finish.
But they are keeping their cool and staying level-headed, which is something that will hugely benefit them in the long-term.
