Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has raved about Joe Hart on CBS Sports.
Spurs recently signed Hart on a free transfer following his departure from Premier League rivals Burnley earlier this summer.
Mourinho has explained the decision to bring the 33-year-old England international goalkeeper to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Mourinho told CBS Sports, as transcribed by Football.London: “Joe is a good keeper with 75 caps for England and that says everything about him. We know his potential, his experience and his desire to go back to…shall we say top clubs, which was a very important thing for his decision.
“We are more than happy because we are a very young squad. We need experience and we need this knowhow of playing with big responsibilities.
“To have in the squad Joe Hart, (Hugo) Lloris (Paulo) Gazzaniga, that was really good cover for a position where sometimes it is really important to have cover.”
Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?
Hart may not have played much football in recent times, but he remains a capable footballer who will give Hugo Lloris a run for his money.
Although Lloris is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Tottenham, the Frenchman has made mistakes from time to time.
Hart does also make errors, but with a wealth of experience, the former Manchester City and Burnley goalkeeper will push Lloris and help him get better.
Tottenham will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season after a disappointing 2019-20 campaign.
Meanwhile, La Gazetta dello Sport has reported that Juventus director Fabio Paratici has been in London and has offered Tottenham Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa, Alex Sandro, Sami Khedira, Daniele Rugani and Mattia De Sciglio.
