Janusz Michallik says everyone knew Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma was a great player.

Yves Bissouma has impressed in this early part of the new season, which has not completely surprised Michallik, who praised the Tottenham star on ESPN.

What exactly has Janusz Michallik said about Yves Bissouma?

Discussing Bissouma’s revival under Ange Postecoglou, the former USA international said: “I think Bissouma with his injury, we knew he was a great player. We just waited for him to be healthy.”

Bissouma suffered a stress fracture in his foot last season, which did not help him as he tried to adapt at his new club following his £25m move from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Constant changes in the dugout did not benefit the 27-year-old or his team-mates either as they went on to finish eighth in the Premier League table and miss out on European football.

However, Bissouma is fit again, starting all four of Tottenham’s games so far this season, and has rediscovered his best form.

One of Tottenham’s most important players

Bissouma has quickly become a key part of Postecoglou’s team, often being the man to thwart other team’s attacks.

His averages of four tackles and 2.8 interceptions per game are the highest in Tottenham’s squad (WhoScored), showing just how good he has been in the current campaign and why he is already so important for his new manager.

Last season did not quite go to plan, but if Bissouma can stay fit and maintain the kind of form he has been showing recently, then things will be different this time around.

Some signings just need time or another coach to start delivering and Bissouma is proving that.
