Kevin Campbell has said on the Highbury Squad podcast that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not sign former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo in the January transfer window.

The former Arsenal striker is confident that there is no way that Arteta will bring in the Portugal international forward, who is playing at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Ronaldo is a free agent at the moment following his departure from Manchester United last month.

A report this week (Rudy Galetti) has linked Arsenal with a move for Ronaldo.

Arsenal fan and TV presenter Piers Morgan has also urged the Gunners to bring the 37-year-old former Real Madrid and Juventus forward to the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer in January.

Kevin Campbell on potential Cristiano Ronaldo move to Arsenal

Campbell said when asked about Ronaldo joining Arsenal: “It’s not happening. It’s never going to happen in a month of Sundays.

“We just got rid of a lot of these guys who are going to cause problems, that’s not going to happen.”

No January transfer

In our view, Arsenal will not sign Cristiano Ronaldo, who reportedly has a massive offer from Saudi Arabia.

Yes, Ronaldo is one of the best players of all time, but he is 37 now and is not going to fit in Arteta’s system of playing a fluid and high-pressing game.

Arteta got rid of another striker in his 30s, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in the middle of last season, and we do not see the Spaniard bring in Ronaldo even on a free transfer.
