West Ham fans on Twitter were seriously impressed with Rico Henry’s display for Brentford during their pre-season friendly at the London Stadium.

David Moyes’ side recorded a 2-1 win against the Championship club yesterday.

There have been many Brentford players who have been catching the eye of Premier League clubs this summer, from the likes of Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma (The Daily Mail & Telegraph).

But yesterday, West Ham fans were blown away by Henry’s performance on the left-hand side, as he also helped himself to an assist during the game.

West Ham could do with some freshness at left-back because Aaron Creswell’s form has been more down than up since their move to the London Stadium.

Whilst Arthur Masuaku can produce the goods going forward, he simply cannot be trusted to play as an out-and-out full-back on a regular basis because of his inability to defend.

Someone like Henry would work his magic, both going forward and in attack for Moyes, but it’s a case of whether the club would push for his signature.

West Ham’s record transfers

  1. Sebastien Haller

    £45 million

  2. Felipe Anderson

    £41.5 million

  3. Marko Arnautovic

    £25 million

  4. Pablo Fornals

    £24 million

  5. Issa Diop

    £22 million

Brentford have always been a selling club, so in that regard, it wouldn’t be that difficult to prize-away the English man from Griffin Park.

Added with that, Thomas Frank’s side failed in their promotion bid, so from a financial perspective, they wouldn’t have to put big bucks on the table for the left-footed speedster because he’s still a Championship player.

The only trouble for West Ham is that there are other clubs in England’s top-flight who are keen on his services, most notably, Leeds and Aston Villa [The Sun].

The Hammers could hold the advantage given that they are based in London and the player may be in a situation where he wants to stay in the capital.

But it could also come down to money and perhaps the scenario that the Birmingham-born player would want to work with his old manager again – Dean Smith coached him at Walsall and then brought him to Brentford.

Either way, the West Ham fans are liking what they are seeing in regards to Henry, as they shared their thoughts on his performance from yesterday:
