Chris Sutton told 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ‘not the same player’ since he signed a new three-year contract for Arsenal on September 15.

For months and months, there was build-up and hope from the Arsenal faithful that Aubameyang was going to commit his future to the club.

And after all that wait, they are now seeing his twin brother take to the North London stage because the Aubameyang of old has been nowhere to be seen.

Arsenal’s indifferent performances doesn’t help the Gabon stars cause, as former Premier League winner, Sutton, does think he is ‘interested’ despite worries.

“I don’t think you can level that he doesn’t look interested,” said Sutton. “But there’s no doubt, and of course he’ll be interested, we have had this conversation before about Aubameyang.

“We have to say that since he signed the new deal, he’s not the same player.”

The cracks are pretty visible over the Emirates Stadium and even Aubameyang cannot cover anything up, at this moment in time.

It’s exposing Mikel Arteta, who is quickly finding that a section of Arsenal fans are now beginning to question whether he is the right person for the job.

But the bigger picture needs to be looked at and it needs to be remembered that Arteta hasn’t played many games with his two star signings – Gabriel and Thomas Partey – in the same starting XI.
