Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has shared on Instagram that Gabon have previously ‘suffered’ but they ‘never give up’ after their crucial win on Monday.

On Friday, Gabon suffered a 3-1 defeat in Angola, but they responded by securing all three points days later in their World Cup qualifier.

Aubameyang led the charge for his country, with the £56 million player (BBC Sport) scoring and assisting during the game.

All of this is good news for Arsenal because it means their star forward will be returning to North London with more confidence and form under his belt.

Nonetheless, after yesterday’s game, Aubemayang sent this message to supporters:

“No matter what happens, we don’t give up,” said Aubameyang. “After all that we have suffered in Angola. It is at home that we have shown that when the settings are for everything, we win.”

A number of Arsenal players have thrived on national duty, including Nicolas Pepe scoring for the Ivory Coast and Emile Smith Rowe finding the back of the net for England’s U21’s.

Now it’s a case of bringing it all together and unleashing it onto the Premier League stage because Arsenal need to climb up the Premier League table.

Their last game, before the international game, was a goalless draw away at Brighton and they were perhaps lucky to leave with a clean sheet and a point.

But one massive positive from that game was that they have shown, since those opening three defeats, is the manner in which the club have been defending.

Old school George Graham like defending from the Gunners, which is a positive sign that there is some serious fight at the back, with Mikel Arteta now being able to play his strongest backline, including Ben White and Gabriel at the heart of the club’s defence.
