Speaking on Wolves’ YouTube channel, Jeff Shi has shared his view on how Wolves will be approaching the upcoming transfer window.

Wolves will have to do a bit of work this summer. Nuno Espirito Santo has gone and the new manager, whoever that may be, will likely want to freshen things up a bit.

That means that Shi has a job on his hands, and while he says the funding is ready for Wolves, it will be tough for the ownership to inject any more cash into the squad after a tough year financially.

What’s he said?

Shi has been very honest about the fact the transfer window could be tough for Wolves to navigate this time around.

“The funding is ready of course, of course the funding is ready, but the question is whether or not the owner will spend more money into the club, and I think we have some areas to conquer, especially after we lost so much revenue from the ticketing office and the stadium and whatever, so I think in the next season it will be tough,” Shi said.

Frustrating window ahead

It seems as though Wolves could be in for a frustrating summer window.

The Midlands club have been spoilt in recent years as the owners have spent freely on some big names, but it looks as though their plans will have to be scaled back a touch.

Whether or not this affects the team on the pitch remains to be seen, but there’s every chance that it could be an issue going forward for Wolves, especially after a rather disappointing 2020/21 campaign.
