‘We have made a deal’: Director suggests that his ‘valuable’ player will be joining Liverpool

A move to Liverpool for Fabio Carvalho has long been rumoured.

The Reds thought they’d signed the teenage star on deadline day in January, only for the deal to fall through, and in recent weeks, there have been unconfirmed reports that he’s agreed to join Liverpool this summer.

Fabrizio Romano seems to be very confident that Carvalho is on his way to Anfield, and Fulham’s Director of Football, Tony Khan, has now suggested that those reports are true in an interview with The Athletic, stating that Fulham have made a deal for Carvalho and that he will be a massive loss.

What’s been said?

Khan spoke about Carvalho and his future.

“I really like Fabio. He’s a player we have always rated, coming out of the academy, and we would have loved to have kept him. But we have made a deal that is best for the club and, since that agreement, it’s worked out wonderfully because he has been such a valuable part of the promotion,” Khan said.

“Marco has done a great job with him. They have a great relationship and Fabio has been tremendous for us. He’s a huge part of the squad and it’s a massive loss but, because we have done good business, we can do good business to make sure we are strong in that position.”

Painful

Fulham seem to have lost another academy gem, and that is so painful for the Whites.

In recent years, the likes of Mousa Dembele, Harvey Elliott, Matt O’Riley and Djed Spence have all left Fulham at a young age before becoming stars, and now, it looks like Carvalho is headed in the same direction.

The midfielder played a massive part in Fulham’s promotion, but the reality is that the London club are losing a very talented player for a fraction of his true value.
