Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports that he had ‘a lot of talks’ with Curtis Jones about his goal contributions for Liverpool.
The 20-year-old scored for Liverpool last night as they recorded a 2-0 win against Sheffield United.
After a number of difficult weeks, Jones shone last night for a Liverpool team now hoping to get back into the top four.
After the game, Klopp labelled Liverpool’s rising star as a ‘top player’ who has ‘space for improvement’.
“Top player, no doubt about that, that’s why he’s playing,” said Klopp. “Tonight, he was very important.
“We had a lot of talks that he has to be more involved in goalscoring situations as well, that’s clear.
“He has, like everywhere, space for improvement. So, tonight he was involved and that’s good.”

Whilst injuries have hit this Liverpool team pretty hard this season, one player who has turned that into a positive is Jones.
With the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho having to drop back, Jones has taken responsibility in midfield and produced a number of high-quality performances.
Given that a certain Gini Wijnaldum’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, a ready-made replacement is already seemingly in front of Klopp’s eyes.
