Raheem Sterling to Tottenham Hotspur is a story that’s generated a bit of buzz in recent days.
Manchester City are rumoured to be stepping up their interest in signing Harry Kane from Spurs this summer.
But The Telegraph reported this week that City may look to include Sterling as a makeweight to lower the Tottenham striker’s valuation, which will surely be nine figures.
The same report, however, added that the England international isn’t interested in joining the North Londoners.
And here’s how club legend Graham Roberts reacted to that speculation on Twitter:
Can’t blame Sterling
If true, it’s difficult to blame Sterling for not wanting a move to Tottenham.
It would be different if he was joining to play alongside Kane, but losing a player like this is massive for the Lilywhites and joining a Spurs side without Kane is so different to joining with him.
That isn’t to say that the North Londoners are a one-man team because there’s some other very talented players at the club.
But without Kane’s 23 Premier League goals last season, Tottenham would’ve finished much lower than seventh and therefore it’s worrying to see how they’ll fare without the player.
Until then, it’s difficult seeing many household names like Sterling actively wanting to join.
