Lucas Radebe says Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto has been ‘absolutely great’, but the team doesn’t seem to score enough goals in their relegation fight.

The former Leeds defender spoke about the job Javi Gracia has on his hands and how he needs to stop the goals going in, as well as being able to put the ball into the back of the net, the story of all the teams down the bottom.

It started off in the perfect fashion for Gracia because Leeds secured a 1-0 win over Southampton at Elland Road in his first game in charge, but since then, they have lost back-to-back games, including failing to score in both.

Luckily, one of those matches was an FA Cup match, so points aren’t lost, but the players need some sort of confidence and lift from somewhere and they didn’t get it from Fulham.

Perhaps it will happen at Elland Road, just like last season, there were many late shows in Yorkshire then and the same might have to happen again.

Either way, Radebe did show his concern for his old side and their quest to stay in England’s top-flight, as he told Premier League Productions.

“I think, at the moment, we are in a difficult position,” said Radebe. “We are hoping he (Gracia) will get us to stay up.

“The players are there. It’s just a matter of being ourselves – from now until the end of the season, it’s going to be hard and we can’t leak a lot of goals.

“But the goals as well. We don’t seem to be scoring a lot of goals. We have Rodrigo missing and Bamford. Gnonto has been absolutely great. If we create chances, then we score goals and we have a chance.”

LEEDS HAVE SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT

Regardless of what happens during these final few months, changes need to be made at the top at Leeds.

They have well and truly shot themselves in the foot this season. One of the main reasons they are struggling is because of the incompetent calls that have been made at the top.

Should Jesse Marsch have been sacked before the World Cup? Why did it take two weeks to bring in a new face? Why was Marsch backed in January with signings, such as Weston McKennie, but booted out a week later?

All in all, it’s pretty clear that those running the ship at Leeds aren’t fit to do so.
